Nexen, a subsidiary of CNOOC (Chinese National Offshore Oil Company), is threatening Digby Island, B.C., as a proposed location for a future Aurora LNG terminal. Nexen-CNOOC’s plans for a Liquified Natural Gas Plant would be 0.5 km away from Dodge Cove and only 3 km away from Prince Rupert. This is too close by World Class standards.
DODGE COVE RESIDENTS DEMAND THE B.C. GOVERNMENT ADHERE TO THE WORLD CLASS STANDARDS OF SIGTTO (THE SOCIETY OF INTERNATIONAL GAS TANKER AND TERMINAL OPERATORS) SITING STANDARDS.
Support the minimum 2.2 mile SIGTTO Hazard Zone free from LNG facilities and carriers – a World Class Standard for Tankers and Terminals.
